Boechera cobrensis (M.E. Jones) Dorn
Habit: Caudex +- woody. Stem: generally 1 per caudex branch, from center of basal rosette at +- ground surface; generally > 2.5 dm, proximally with short-stalked, 4--10-rayed hairs 0.1--0.2 mm. Leaf: basal 1--4 mm wide, entire, hairs short-stalked, 4--10-rayed, 0.1--0.2 mm; cauline 5--10, distal +- hairy, basal lobes 1--1.5 mm. Inflorescence: 10--25-flowered, not 1-sided in fruit; fruit pedicel spreading-ascending to horizontal, generally straight near base, recurved or reflexed near tip, 4--17 mm, hairs appressed, branched (glabrous). Flower: sepals hairy; petals 3.5--6 mm, 0.7--1 mm wide, white to lavender; pollen ellipsoid. Fruit: pendent, not appressed, 2.5--5.5 cm, 1.7--2.5 mm wide, glabrous; style < 0.2 mm; ovules 34--64. Seed: in 1 row, 1.4--1.8 mm; wing 0.25--0.5 mm wide. Chromosomes: 2n=14.
Ecology: Sandy soil, under shrubs in semi-desert; Elevation: 1350--3400 m. Bioregional Distribution: SNE, n DMtns; Distribution Outside California: to Oregon, Wyoming. Flowering Time: May--Jun
