Monardella stoneana Elvin & A.C. Sanders
Habit: Subshrub, low, compact, strongly pungent-scented. Stem: several to many, 20--50(60) cm, (+- glabrous) sparsely puberulent. Leaf: 17--35 mm (including petiole, 2--4 mm), 4--10 mm wide, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, +- glabrous to sparsely puberulent, green except generally purple-tinged near stem tip, base acute. Inflorescence: flower cluster 1(3) per main stem (or several in +- terminal spikes or racemes), 10--15 mm wide; bracts 7--10 mm, 2.5--4 mm wide, lanceolate to narrowly lance-ovate. Flower: calyx 9--10 mm; corolla pale pink, occasionally tinged light blue, lobes 2.8--3.7 mm.
Ecology: Rocky streambeds, banks of intermittent streams; Elevation: < 660 m. Bioregional Distribution: sw PR (San Diego Co.); Distribution Outside California: northwestern Baja California. Flowering Time: May--Sep
