Leptosiphon acicularis (Greene) Jeps.
Habit: Annual, hairy. Stem: 3--15 cm. Leaf: lobes 3--11 mm, needle-like. Inflorescence: head. Flower: calyx 5--10 mm, lobes needle-like, densely glandular-hairy, membrane much narrower than lobes; corolla salverform, tube 7--20 mm, thread-like, yellow or +- pink, lobes 3(5) mm, oblanceolate to obovate, bright yellow; stamens exserted (or +- at mouth); stigmas 2--5 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Grassy areas, woodland, chaparral; Elevation: < 700 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCo, NCoR, SnFrB. Flowering Time: Apr--May Note: Needle-like leaves, small bright yellow corollas differentiate this from yellow-flowered southern California populations of Leptosiphon parviflorus.
