Atriplex depressa Jeps.
Habit: Annual < 3 dm. Stem: prostrate-decumbent to ascending, glabrous to scaly, generally brittle, +- red, peeling. Leaf: generally opposite, blade 2.5--8(10) mm, ovate to cordate, generally densely white-scaly, tip acute; Kranz. Pistillate Inflorescence: bracts in fruit 2--3.5 mm, fused to near tip, diamond-shaped, entire to few-dentate, generally white-scaly, generally tubercled on side facing stem. Seed: +- 1--1.2 mm, +- red-brown. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Alkaline or clay soils; Elevation: < 320 m. Bioregional Distribution: GV. Flowering Time: Jun--Oct Note: Plants from southwestern SnJV (Carrizo Plain) an undescribed taxon, plant green-yellow-scaly; leaves petioled, blades ovate; fruit bracts +- 3--4 mm, smooth.
