Mimulus nanus Hook. & Arn. var. nanus
Stem: lowest internodes +- longer than others, primary axis not dominant; tufted or mound-like. Leaf: minutely puberulent, green, basal generally +- purple below. Inflorescence: fruit nodes +- evenly spaced. Flower: calyx 6--10 mm, minutely puberulent, lobes 1--4 mm; corolla magenta or lavender-purple, tube-throat 11--19 mm, glabrous externally, limb 8--14 mm wide. Fruit: 6--12 mm.
Ecology: Openings in sagebrush or on disturbed slopes, generally around granite; Elevation: generally 1000--2300 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CaRH, GB; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Montana, Wyoming. Flowering Time: May--Aug
