Chenopodium polyspermum L. var. acutifolium (Sm.) Gaudin
Habit: Annual 15--50 cm, proximal branches +- prostrate, distal erect. Leaf: blade 15--40(60) mm, elliptic to oblong or narrowly ovate, entire, red in age, glabrous or +- powdery abaxially, base tapered or round, tip acute and generally small-pointed. Inflorescence: flowers 1 or in cymes, densely arranged in axillary and terminal branched spikes, panicles. Flower: calyx lobes elliptic or obovate, +- keeled, powdery, not enclosing fruit in age, tip obtuse to round; stamens 2. Fruit: wall free from seed, +- white, smooth. Seed: horizontal, +- spheric, < 0.9 mm diam; seed coat black, minutely wrinkled, shiny; margin rounded. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
