Chenopodium glaucum L. var. salinum (Standl.) B. Boivin
Habit: Annual 8--20 cm. Stem: proximal generally prostrate; distal ascending. Leaf: blade 5--35 mm, lanceolate to oblong, glabrous to sparsely powdery adaxially, white-powdery abaxially, margins wavy-dentate, teeth acute; tip acute. Inflorescence: axillary, +- 2 mm diam, +- spheric, leafy-bracted throughout. Flower: sepals generally 3, abaxially rounded, glabrous, +- enclosing fruit; stamen 1. Fruit: wall free from seed. Seed: horizontal, vertical, 0.9--1 mm.
Ecology: Open places, generally saline soils, drying ponds, streambanks; Elevation: < 2200 m. Bioregional Distribution: CaR, SNH (e slope), SnBr, GB; Distribution Outside California: to Canada, central United States. Flowering Time: Jul--Oct Note: E United States native Chenopodium glaucum var. glaucum, inflorescence not leafy-bracted, leaf tip obtuse, expected in California.
