Trifolium eriocephalum Nutt. subsp. eriocephalum
Habit: Perennial herb, hairy. Stem: generally ascending or erect, generally unbranched. Leaf: basal and cauline; lower stipules sheathing stem, upper lanceolate; leaflets 1--4 cm, elliptic-oblong to ovate. Inflorescence: head-like, 1.5--3 cm, generally turned to side or downward; peduncle 5--15 cm; involucre 0; pedicels +- 0.5 mm; flowers generally soon-reflexed. Flower: calyx 5--9 mm, hairy, lobes > tube, +- linear, twisted or bent, plumose; corolla 8--14 mm, dull white or +- yellow. Fruit: hairy. Seed: 1--3. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Locally common. Moist meadows to dry, open slopes; Elevation: 300--1500 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CaR, n SN; Distribution Outside California: Oregon. Flowering Time: May--Aug
