Vicia pannonica Crantz
Habit: Annual, hairy. Stem: ascending or climbing, 3--8 dm. Leaf: stipules entire; leaflets 10--20, 1--2.5 cm, elliptic-oblong to ovate, tip rounded to truncate, often with 1 slender tooth. Inflorescence: << subtending leaf; flowers 2--4, crowded. Flower: calyx attachment oblique, tube 4--6 mm, lobes linear, lower 4--6 mm, > upper; corolla 15--20 mm, pale yellow or yellow with purple blotches, banner puberulent abaxially. Fruit: 2--3 cm, 7--11 mm wide, elliptic to widely oblong, hairs not from conspicuous tubercles; stalk-like base 1--2 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=12.
Ecology: Disturbed areas; Elevation: < 200 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRO (Sonoma Co.), SCo (Santa Barbara); Distribution Outside California: sporadic United States; native to Europe. Flowering Time: May--Jul Note: Cult, especially in Oregon.
