Vicia lathyroides L.
Habit: Annual, glabrous or hairy. Stem: prostrate to erect, 5--25 cm. Leaf: stipules entire to +- toothed; leaflets 4--6, 3--15 mm, lanceolate to obovate; tendril simple or 0. Inflorescence: << subtending leaf, peduncle +- 0, < pedicels; flowers 1(2), axillary. Flower: calyx attachment basal; calyx 3.5--4.5 mm, lobes lanceolate, subequal, = tube; corolla 5--6 mm, white-lavender or dull blue. Fruit: 1.5--2.5(3) cm, 3--4 mm wide, oblong, glabrous; stalk-like base 0.
Ecology: Disturbed areas; Elevation: 228 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRO; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, southeastern United States; native to Europe. Flowering Time: Jun Note: Collected 1 time, 1990, on Ferrari-Carano Ranch, Sonoma Co.; plants like miniature Vicia sativa subsp. nigra.
