Vaccinium scoparium Coville
Habit: Shrub, brushy, glabrous, rhizomed. Stem: generally erect, < 5 dm, rooting; twigs strongly angled, green. Leaf: deciduous, 8--15 mm, ovate to elliptic, serrate, abaxially glabrous. Inflorescence: flowers 1 in axils of lowest leaves of youngest shoots; pedicel not jointed to flower, bractlets 0. Flower: calyx lobes +- 0 or < tube, rounded, deciduous; corolla < 4 mm, urn-shaped, pink; anthers awned. Fruit: 3--6 mm diam, red.
Ecology: Rocky subalpine woodland; Elevation: 1800--2200 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR; Distribution Outside California: to western Canada, South Dakota, Utah. Flowering Time: Jun--Jul
