Trifolium tomentosum L.
Habit: Annual, glabrous to hairy. Stem: decumbent to +- erect. Leaf: cauline; stipules ovate, free part lance-triangular; leaflets 0.4--1.2 cm, obovate to obtriangular. Inflorescence: heads 6--12 mm, sessile above 2 bract-like leaves or peduncled, woolly in fruit; bracts small, cup-shaped. Flower: calyx hairy on top, lobes short, linear inflating in fruit; corolla 3--6 mm, pink, becoming reflexed. Seed: 1--2. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Grassland, roadsides; Elevation: < 400 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoR, n SNF, ScV, SnFrB; Distribution Outside California: United States; native to Mediterranean. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
