Trifolium polyodon Greene
Habit: Annual, decumbent-ascending, glabrous. Leaf: cauline; stipules 1 cm, widely ovate, upper deeply cut; leaflets 5--20 mm, widely elliptic to obovate, tips rounded. Inflorescence: head-like, included or exserted from leaves, 0.5--2.5 cm wide, 1--many-flowered; involucre wheel-shaped, generally well developed, cut to middle. Flower: calyx 4--7 mm, tube 10--many-veined, lobes +- <= tube, +- 3-parted; corolla 8--10 mm, pink to white with purple tip. Fruit: stalk-like base short or 0. Seed: 2.
Ecology: Closed-cone-pine forest; moist meadows, streamsides; Elevation: < 300 m. Bioregional Distribution: CCo (Monterey Peninsula). Flowering Time: Apr--Jun Note: Considered by some of hybrid origin. Seriously threatened by urbanization.
