Trifolium microdon Hook. & Arn.
Habit: Annual, puberulent. Stem: decumbent to erect. Leaf: cauline; stipules wide, upper deeply cut or not; leaflets 0.5--1.5 cm, oblanceolate to obovate, tip truncate or notched. Inflorescence: head-like, 0.7--1.4 cm wide, 5--many-flowered; involucre cup-shaped, divisions bristle-tipped. Flower: calyx 2--3 mm, tube 10-veined, < 1/2 tube, triangular, not bristle-tipped; corolla 4--6 mm, white to pink. Seed: 1--2. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Common locally. Open, moist or dry, generally disturbed areas; Elevation: 10--1100 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCo, NCoR, n&c SNF, GV, CW, ChI, PR; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia; South America. Flowering Time: Mar--Jun
