Trifolium palmeri S. Watson
Habit: Annual, erect, glabrous. Leaf: cauline; lower stipules generally conspicuous, 15--20 mm, fibrous; leaflets 10--30 mm, narrowly elliptic or lanceolate, length 3.5--5 × width, teeth bristle-like, tip acute. Inflorescence: 1--1.5 cm wide, 3--many-flowered, generally turned to side; axis generally +- exserted; bracts 0; pedicels 1--2 mm; flowers in age recurved. Flower: calyx 4--6 mm, tube 10-veined, lobes +- 0.5 mm wide at base, > tube, narrowly triangular-linear; corolla 5--9 mm, > calyx, purple or pink. Fruit: 4--6 mm. Seed: 1--2.
Ecology: Grassy places near ocean; Elevation: 0--300 m. Bioregional Distribution: ChI; Distribution Outside California: Baja California. Flowering Time: Mar--May
