Trifolium dubium Sibth.
Habit: Annual, sparsely puberulent. Stem: decumbent to erect. Leaf: 1-pinnate, cauline; stipules ovate; petioles of mid-leaves generally < leaflets; leaflets 0.6--1.2 cm, obovate. Inflorescence: head- to +- spike-like, 0.4--0.8 cm wide, 5--10(20)-flowered; flowers quickly reflexed. Flower: calyx 1.5--2 mm; corolla 3.5--4 mm, bright yellow, in age brown, weak-striate. Fruit: style persistent, < 1 mm. Seed: 1. Chromosomes: 2n=14,16,28.
Ecology: Agricultural, disturbed areas; Elevation: < 500 m. Bioregional Distribution: CA-FP; Distribution Outside California: much of United States; native to Europe. Flowering Time: Apr--Jul
