Trifolium buckwestiorum Isely
Habit: Annual, glabrous. Stem: decumbent to ascending. Leaf: cauline; stipules with many bristle-tipped teeth; leaflets 0.5--1.5 cm, elliptic to obovate, finely serrate. Inflorescence: head-like, 8--12 mm wide, 5--many-flowered; involucre bowl-shaped, irregularly toothed, cut. Flower: calyx tube 4--5 mm, 10-veined, lobes < tube, with 3--5 inconspicuous, lateral teeth, bristle at tip 1--1.5 mm; corolla 6--7 mm, pale pink or white, keel darker. Seed: 1--2.
Ecology: Grassy or disturbed areas; Elevation: < 710 m. Bioregional Distribution: sw SnFrB (Mendocino, Monterey, Santa Cruz cos.). Flowering Time: May--Jun Note: First heads enclosed in stipules, reduced, seeming cleistogamous.
