Trichostema lanceolatum Benth.
Habit: Annual < 1 m. Stem: hairs short, appressed, or long-soft-spreading, some glandular. Leaf: petiole indistinct or < 4 mm; blade 2--7 cm, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, length > 3 × width, lateral veins prominent near base. Flower: calyx lobes 1--3 × tube, uppermost generally narrower; corolla tube 5--10 mm, curved upward and sharply recurved near throat, exserted, lower lip 4--8 mm; stamens 13--20 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=14.
Ecology: Dry, open, generally disturbed habitats; Elevation: < 2200 m. Bioregional Distribution: CA-FP; Distribution Outside California: Oregon, Baja California. Flowering Time: Jun--Nov Note: Leaves have strong vinegar odor.
