Streptanthus breweri A. Gray
Habit: Annual, glaucous, glabrous except occasionally sepals. Stem: (0.5)1.5--6.5(8) dm, simple or branched at base. Leaf: basal not rosetted, broadly ovate to obovate, dentate or entire; mid-cauline 1.5--10 cm, 0.3--4.5 cm wide, ovate, sessile, base clasping; distal much reduced, narrowly lanceolate, entire. Inflorescence: open, axis straight; terminal sterile flower cluster 0. Flower: calyx urn-shaped, sepals 5--7 mm, ovate, keeled, purple or white; petals 8--12 mm, 1--2 mm wide, not crinkled, white, purple-veined or adaxial pair white; filaments in 3 pairs of unequal length, longest pair fused, 7--10 mm; fertile anthers 2--3 mm. Fruit: erect to ascending, 3--9 cm, 1--1.5 mm wide, generally strongly arched or recurved; valves glabrous, midvein obscure; stigma entire; pedicel spreading to erect, 1.5--5(6) mm, straight. Seed: 24--54, 1--1.5 mm, oblong; wing 0--0.1 wide at tip.
Ecology: Serpentine barrens in chaparral or woodland; Elevation: 250--2100 m. Bioregional Distribution: s-most KR, NCoRH, c&s NCoRI, e SnFrB, SCoRI. Flowering Time: May--Jul
