Stachys bullata Benth.
Stem: erect, 0.4--0.8 m, branched; hairs on angles stiff, sharp, reflexed, on sides soft, generally glandular. Leaf: blade 3--18 cm, +- ovate, soft- and stiff-hairy, glandular, base +- cordate, tip obtuse. Inflorescence: > 5 cm, interrupted, internodes generally much elongated; clusters 6-flowered. Flower: calyx tube 6--7.5 mm, densely glandular, hairy; corolla pink to +- purple, tube 7--10 mm, not pouched, ring of hairs < 2 mm from base, perpendicular, upper lip 3.5--5.5 mm, lower 6--10 mm, lower lip hairy abaxially. Chromosomes: 2n=66.
Ecology: Dry slopes near coast; Elevation: < 500 m. Bioregional Distribution: CW, SW. Flowering Time: Mar--Sep
