Inflorescence: flower clusters crowded; axis generally not glandular, multicellular hairs generally few or 0; bracts 8--12 mm, divided into 2--4 linear lobes, finely bristly, generally involucre-like in age, >= calyx. Flower: calyx 8--12 mm, lobes lanceolate, long-acuminate, adaxially often with narrow purple line or spot at base, abaxially bristly and stellate-puberulent, generally not glandular, multicellular hairs generally few or 0; petals 20--35 mm, +- 19 mm wide, dark pink, dark spot occasionally at base, tip minutely fringed; filaments fused to tip. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRO, CaRF, n&c SNF, ScV, CCo, SnFrB; Distribution Outside California: western Oregon. Flowering Time: Apr--May Note: Some plants +- intermediate to Sidalcea keckii, but species distinct by molecular evidence (Hill 2009); study needed.
