Salvia brandegeei Munz
Habit: Shrub > 1 m or prostrate; hairs branched; heterostylous. Leaf: 2--6 cm; blade linear to linear-elliptic, puckered, adaxially glabrous, abaxially densely white-hairy; margins rolled under; teeth small, rounded. Inflorescence: clusters 1.5--2 cm wide; bracts ovate, colored, tips sharp. Flower: calyx 7--8 mm, hairs long, wavy, upper lip minutely 3-lobed; corolla tube 7--8 mm, pale blue to lavender, upper lip 3--3.5 mm, lower lip 3--4 mm; stamens +- included. Fruit: 1.5--2.5 mm, oblong, rough, brown. Chromosomes: 2n=30.
Ecology: Coastal scrub; Elevation: < 200 m. Bioregional Distribution: n ChI (Santa Rosa Island); Distribution Outside California: northern Baja California. Flowering Time: Feb--Aug
