Rumex kerneri Borbás
Habit: Perennial herb, generally papillate; taproot vertical, fusiform. Stem: 5--10(15) dm, +- slender. Leaf: blade 15--25 cm, 5--9 cm wide, oblong to lanceolate, base truncate or +- cordate, margin entire, flat to +- wavy, tip acute or long-tapered. Inflorescence: terminal, dense, interrupted especially below, branches generally simple, arched or generally straight; whorls 15--20-flowered; pedicels 6--12 mm, thread-like, joints swollen. Flower: inner perianth lobes 6--8(9) mm, 6--7.5(8) mm wide, round, base generally cordate, margin entire or toothed especially near base with teeth 0.2--0.5 mm, tip generally acute; tubercles generally 1 (if 3, then unequal), < 2 × lobe width. Fruit: 2.5--3.3 mm, 1.8--2.3 mm wide, brown. Chromosomes: 2n=80.
Ecology: Disturbed areas, oak woodland, grassland; Elevation: < 700 m. Bioregional Distribution: CaRF, n ScV, sw SnJV (Carrizo Plain), s CCo, SCoR, n SCo; Distribution Outside California: native to southeastern Europe. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
