Rumex conglomeratus Murray
Habit: Perennial herb, generally glabrous; taproot vertical, fusiform. Stem: erect, 3--8(15) dm. Leaf: blade (5)10--30 cm, 2.5--6 cm wide, lanceolate to lance-ovate, base tapered to +- cordate, margin entire, +- flat, tip +- acute (obtuse). Inflorescence: terminal, open, interrupted, branches generally simple; whorls 10--20-flowered; pedicels 1--4(5) mm, generally +- >= inner perianth, thread-like, joints swollen. Flower: inner perianth lobes 2--3 mm, 1--1.6(2) mm wide, oblong to narrowly ovate, base tapered or truncate, margin entire, tip obtuse; tubercles 3, +- equal, almost as wide as lobe. Fruit: 1.5--2 mm, 1--1.4 mm wide, generally dark red-brown. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Common. Moist places; Elevation: < 1500 m. Bioregional Distribution: CA-FP, SNE; Distribution Outside California: native to Europe. Flowering Time: May--Aug
