Rorippa austriaca (Crantz) Besser
Habit: Perennial herb, rhizomes short, thickened. Stem: simple, many-branched distally, 4--11(18) dm, glabrous or hairy near base. Leaf: basal not rosetted, pinnately lobed; middle, distal cauline (2.5)4--12(15) cm, sessile, base lobed to clasping, lanceolate, entire or serrate. Inflorescence: elongated. Flower: sepals ascending, 2--3 mm, oblong; petals 3--5 mm, 1.7--2.5 mm wide, obovate. Fruit: silicle, rarely produced, 2.5--3 mm, 1.5--2.7 mm wide, +- spheric; valves glabrous; style 1--2 mm; pedicel spreading to +- ascending, 4--15 mm. Seed: 18--40, 0.7--0.9 mm, ovoid. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Disturbed areas, mud flats, river banks, wet grassland; Elevation: 1000--1900 m. Bioregional Distribution: MP; Distribution Outside California: to Canada, north-central and eastern United States; native to Europe. Flowering Time: May--Jul
