Potamogeton crispus L.
Habit: Annual, from hard winter buds. Stem: < 90 cm, branches above, +- compressed. Leaf: submersed, sessile, 4--8 cm, 0.5--0.8 cm wide, oblong, thick, +- wavy, serrate, tip rounded, veins 3--5; stipules generally < 1 cm, +- free, in age fibrous. Inflorescence: < 2 cm. Fruit: 4--6 mm, keels 0, sides +- concave to convex, beak 2--3 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=52.
Ecology: Uncommon. Shallow water, ponds, streams; Elevation: < 2100 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoR, CaR, s SN, n SNH, GV, CCo, SnFrB, SCo, ChI, SnGb, SnBr, PR, D; Distribution Outside California: +- worldwide; native to Eurasia, Australia. Flowering Time: Jul--Sep
