Plagiobothrys uncinatus J.T. Howell
Habit: Annual, +- red, staining, stiff spreading-hairy. Stem: decumbent to erect, 1--3 dm. Leaf: basal in rosette, 1--4 cm; cauline alternate, ovate. Inflorescence: bracts +- throughout. Flower: calyx 1.5--2 mm, hairs dense, spreading, generally hooked at tip; corolla limb 1.5--2 mm diam, stained pink, appendages pale yellow. Fruit: nutlet 1--1.3 mm, ovate, base rounded, brown, +- arched; abaxial ridge, lateral ridges narrow, +- tubercled, with many irregular translucent papillae, occasionally wrinkled, cross-ribs 0, interspaces 0; scar near middle, +- round.
Ecology: Chaparral, canyon sides, rocky outcrops, +- fire follower; Elevation: 300--600 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCoRO. Flowering Time: Apr--May
