Plagiobothrys trachycarpus (A. Gray) I.M. Johnst.
Habit: Annual, +- dense-strigose. Stem: prostrate to ascending, 0.5--4 dm. Leaf: cauline, lower 5--10 cm. Inflorescence: bracts +- throughout, spreading. Flower: calyx 4--6 mm; corolla limb 1.5--4 mm diam, appendages yellow. Fruit: nutlet 1--1.7 mm, wide-ovate, +- flat, dull; abaxial ridge, lateral ridges, cross-ribs generally narrow, tubercled or sharp-papillate, occasionally bristled, interspaces wide, irregular, granular-papillate; adaxial ridge > 75% fruit length; scar near base, < 25% fruit length, ovate to triangular, concave.
Ecology: Shallow vernal pools, wet places in grassland, scrub, chaparral, woodland; Elevation: < 1390 m. Bioregional Distribution: s ScV, SnJV, SnFrB, SCoRO, SCo, WTR, PR. Flowering Time: Mar--May
