Plagiobothrys hispidulus (Greene) I.M. Johnst.
Habit: Annual, strigose. Stem: prostrate to erect, 0.5--4 dm. Leaf: cauline, lower 1--5 cm. Inflorescence: bracts generally below middle. Flower: calyx 1.5--3 mm, lobes +- spreading; corolla limb 1--2 mm diam. Fruit: nutlet 1.2--1.8 mm, ovate, +- symmetric, dull, brown to black; abaxial ridge short, near tip, papillate-dentate, lateral ridges 0, cross-ribs narrow, scattered, papillate-dentate, interspace margins wide, granular to papillate-dentate; adaxial ridge generally not folded; scar near base, +- narrow-elliptic, +- sunken.
Ecology: Common. Moist to drying meadows, flats, conifer forest openings; Elevation: 1200--3400 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoR, CaRH, SN, TR, PR, GB; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Wyoming, Nevada. Flowering Time: May--Aug
