Plagiobothrys humistratus (Greene) I.M. Johnst.
Habit: Annual, sparse-strigose. Stem: prostrate, 1--4 dm. Leaf: cauline, lower 3--8 cm. Inflorescence: bracts +- throughout; flowers generally present near stem base; lower pedicels stout, < 2 mm, recurved. Flower: calyx 6--10 mm, lobes longer in fruit, midvein +- thick; corolla limb 1--2 mm diam, appendages pale yellow. Fruit: nutlet 2--2.5 mm, lance-ovate, often bristled, dull, attached +- loosely; abaxial ridge obscure, cross-ribs 0--low, irregular, interspaces wide; scar near base, < 20% fruit length, triangular to ovate, generally concave, bordered by low ridge.
Ecology: Vernal pools, wet places, grassland; Elevation: generally < 200 m. Bioregional Distribution: CaRF, SNF, GV, SCoRO, SCo. Flowering Time: Mar--May
Unabridged Note: May intergrade with the closely related Plagiobothrys scriptus. Superficially similar to Plagiobothrys leptocladus.
