Plagiobothrys canescens Benth.
Habit: Annual, generally +- green, rarely red, staining on stems, leaves. Stem: prostrate to erect, 1--6 dm; canescent, rarely rough or bristly. Leaf: basal in +- rosette, 1.5--5 cm; cauline alternate. Inflorescence: 1+, bracts +- throughout. Flower: calyx 3--6 mm, generally not circumscissile in fruit, lobes erect to spreading (circumscissile, lobes curved over fruit), +- appressed-hairy; corolla limb 2--3 mm diam, appendages pale yellow. Fruit: nutlets (2)3--4, 2--2.5 mm, round-ovate, generally arched, generally weakly attached; abaxial ridge, lateral ridges, cross-ribs narrow; interspaces wide, flat; scar near middle, round.
