Penstemon procerus Graham
Habit: Perennial herb 5--40 cm, generally matted, glabrous (except some proximal stems). Leaf: entire; basal leaves many, (ob)lanceolate to obovate; distal cauline leaves < basal, narrowly lanceolate to narrowly ovate. Inflorescence: glabrous. Flower: calyx 1.5--4.5 mm, lobes (ob)ovate; corolla 6--10 mm, blue-purple, +- glabrous, floor +- white, white- to yellow-hairy; anther sacs 0.3--0.5 mm, widely spreading; staminode glabrous or sparsely orange-yellow-hairy.
Note: Other varieties outside California to Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado; varieties separated by elevation in KR.
