Penstemon caesius A. Gray
Habit: Subshrub 20--80 cm, +- scapose; herbage glabrous, glaucous. Leaf: generally basal, petioled; blade 15--43 mm, widely obovate to round, entire. Inflorescence: glandular. Flower: calyx 3.7--7.5 mm, lobes lanceolate or ovate; corolla 15--23 mm, purple-blue, glandular outside, floor hairy; anther sacs 1.3--1.6 mm, dehiscing across common end slightly > 1/2 their length, inner margins hairy; staminode glabrous.
Ecology: Rocky ridges and slopes in open conifer forest and alpine communities; Elevation: 1800--3400 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SNH, SnGb, SnBr. Flowering Time: Jun--Aug
