Nemacladus montanus Greene
Habit: Erect, 8--18 cm, 1st branches generally 2--2.5 cm from base. Stem: ascending. Leaf: 6--18 mm, oblanceolate to elliptic, entire or obscurely toothed, hairy, narrowed to short, wide petiole. Inflorescence: axis strongly zigzag; bracts 1--3 mm, linear to lanceolate, spreading; pedicels 10--15 mm, 0.1 mm diam, ascending, generally straight, tip upturned. Flower: not inverted; hypanthium +- 1 mm; sepals +- 2 mm, triangular, erect; corolla conspicuously 2-lipped, divided +- to base, white, glabrous or ciliate, 3 adaxial lobes erect, 2 mm, yellow spot at base and 2 maroon arches above, 2 abaxial spreading, 3--4 mm, 2 maroon lines near base; filaments declined, +- 3 mm, tip +- curved, glabrous, appendage pad at base of filaments, cells obtuse, anthers +- 0.5 mm; ovary 1/2-inferior. Fruit: 2.5--3 mm, base acute, tip +- pointed. Seed: +- 1 mm, elliptic, with deeply impressed, vertical lines. Chromosomes: n=9.
Ecology: Serpentine soils; Elevation: 300--1200 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRI, NCoRH, n ScV, se SnFrB (Mount Hamilton). Flowering Time: May--Jul
