Navarretia heterandra H. Mason
Habit: Plant erect to +- spreading, 1° axes 1--several. Stem: 3--11 cm, branches ascending, white-hairy, hairs generally recurved. Leaf: 2-pinnate-lobed; axis linear; lobes linear or needle-like, spreading; cotyledons 2, entire. Inflorescence: dense, densely white-hairy in center; bract tips spreading, often red, glabrous. Flower: calyx lobes 4--5, strap-shaped, hairy above middle, longest toothed; corolla 6--8 mm, white, throat with purple spots below lobes, lobes 4--5, tips occasionally blue; stamens exserted, unequal; style included; stigmas 2. Fruit: obovoid; chamber 1; valves 4, dehiscing in lower 1/2.
Ecology: Heavy soil, vernal pools, wet or drying flats; Elevation: < 1100 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRI, CaR, ScV, e SnFrB, SCoRI, MP; Distribution Outside California: Oregon. Flowering Time: May--Jun
