Monardella candicans Benth.
Habit: Annual; branched generally distally or stem simple. Stem: 15--55 cm, +- purple, puberulent. Leaf: conspicuously long-petioled, 20--50 mm, 3--12 mm wide, lanceolate, puberulent. Inflorescence: flower cluster 12--25 mm wide; bracts scarious, ovate, acute or obtuse, cross-veined, margin white, veins green. Flower: calyx lobes erect, acute, margins white-scarious; corolla 8--11 mm, white, purple-spotted or not, tube exserted, lobes each with conspicuous gland at tip; stamens slightly exserted, tissue between pollen chambers entire.
Ecology: Sandy or gravelly soils, oak woodland, chaparral, lower yellow-pine forest; Elevation: 40--1250 m. Bioregional Distribution: SNF, e SnJV (extirpated n SnJV). Flowering Time: May--Jul
