Mimulus whitneyi A. Gray
Habit: Annual 1--14 cm, puberulent. Leaf: 7--23 mm, +- linear to narrowly elliptic. Flower: pedicel 1--3 mm; calyx 4--8 mm, dark-ribbed, puberulent, lobes +- equal, 1--3 mm, acute; corolla magenta or yellow, persistent, tube-throat 13--18 mm, throat with 3--5 red-brown longitudinal stripes and 2 red-brown broader blotches most visible in yellow flowers; placentas parietal. Fruit: 6--10 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Disturbed areas, road banks, exposed runoff areas, granitic soils; Elevation: generally 1500--3270 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SNH. Flowering Time: May--Sep Note: Intergrades with Mimulus constrictus to southern at lower elevations; with Mimulus leptaleus and Mimulus nanus var. mephiticus to northeastern at higher elevations.
