Mimulus tricolor Lindl. NATIVE Habit: Annual 1--14 cm, densely puberulent. Leaf: 8--45 mm, narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, not ciliate. Inflorescence: flowers 2 per node. Flower: pedicel 1--3 mm; calyx 10--23 mm, puberulent, lobes unequal, 1--5 mm, obtuse; corolla persistent, magenta to purple with +- white throat with yellow folds, mottled with dark dots, lobe base with 1 large, maroon-purple spot, tube-throat 15--50 mm, puberulent outside; placentas parietal. Fruit: 3--8 mm, oblique-ovoid, +- compressed laterally, hard, indehiscent. Chromosomes: 2n=18. Ecology: Vernally wet depressions; Elevation: generally < 600 m (< 1500 m in MP).
