Mimulus layneae (Greene) Jeps.
Habit: Annual 2--28 cm, +- hairy. Leaf: 6--25 mm, narrowly elliptic to obovate. Flower: pedicel 1--3 mm; calyx 5--11 mm, dark-ribbed, +- hairy, lobes +- equal, 1--3 mm, acute to acuminate; corolla pink to magenta (+- white), darker central marks on lobes, persistent, tube-throat 13--21 mm, throat near mouth generally white (yellow) with red-purple dots, lips +- equal, lower bent downward; placentas parietal. Fruit: 6--10 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Bare or disturbed areas, generally serpentine or granitic; Elevation: generally 200--2000 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CaR, SN, SW, MP. Flowering Time: May--Aug Note: Intermediates with Mimulus nanus (NW, southern SN) have yellow at corolla mouth.
