Mentzelia tridentata (Davidson) H.J. Thomps. & J.E. Roberts
Habit: Annual 5--25 cm. Stem: erect, hairy. Leaf: petioled, 1--9 cm, lanceolate to oblanceolate, wavy to toothed. Inflorescence: bracts lanceolate to widely ovate, sessile, 2--10-toothed, +- green. Flower: sepals 5--13 mm; petals 10--40 mm, widely obovate, +- white to pale-yellow, tip mucronate; stamens 6--15 mm, filaments +- broadened, 2-lobed distally, anther stalk between lobes thin, generally > lobes; style 9--12 mm. Fruit: erect to reflexed, 9--18 mm, 5--8 mm wide, cylindric to barrel-shaped. Seed: 1.5--2.5 mm, +- compressed, widest at middle, beaked, ashy-white. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Creosote-bush scrub; Elevation: 700--1300 m. Bioregional Distribution: c DMoj. Flowering Time: Apr--May
