Malacothamnus davidsonii (B.L. Rob.) Greene
Habit: Plant 3--5 m, branches stout; hairs dense, +- yellow, stellate with < 10 rays. Leaf: blade 5--11(20) cm, round to ovate, sharp-3--5-lobed, hairs few, short-rayed-stellate abaxially, adaxially. Inflorescence: panicle-like; flowers 3--7 per node; leaf-like bracts few; flowering stalks 1 cm; bractlets 0.5 cm. Flower: buds acuminate; calyx to 1 cm, 1/2 as wide; petals 1--2 cm; filament column < petals. Fruit: segments 2.5--3.5 mm, ovate, notched, brown. Chromosomes: 2n=34.
Ecology: Slopes, washes; Elevation: 500--700 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SnFrB, SCoRO, SCo, WTR, SnGb. Flowering Time: May--Jul Note: Intergrades with Malacothamnus fasciculatus.
