Malacothamnus clementinus (Munz & I.M. Johnst.) Kearney
Habit: Shrub, < 1 m, branches slender; hairs shaggy, white, woolly. Leaf: blade < 6 cm, round to ovate, 3--5-lobed. Inflorescence: spike-like; flowers < 10 per node; leaf-like bracts few; flowering stalks < 0.5 cm; bractlets > calyx. Flower: calyx +- 1 cm, 1/2 as wide; petals 1--2 cm; filament column < petals. Fruit: segments 2.5--3 mm, brown. Chromosomes: 2n=34.
Ecology: Rocky canyon walls; Elevation: < 310 m. Bioregional Distribution: s ChI (San Clemente Island). Flowering Time: Mar--May
