Lotus uliginosus Schkuhr
Habit: Perennial herb, often fleshy, glabrous or long-shaggy-hairy, rhizomed. Stem: ascending, generally hollow. Leaf: stipules gland-like or not apparent; leaflets 5, 8--25 mm, 3--15 mm wide, obovate, tip obtuse. Inflorescence: (5)8--12(15)-flowered; peduncle generally 8--14 cm. Flower: calyx 7--8 mm, lobes +- = tube, often outcurved in bud; corolla 10--12(18) mm, yellow. Fruit: (1.5)2--3(3.5) cm, narrowly oblong, glabrous. Seed: few to several. Chromosomes: 2n=24.
Ecology: Wet fields, roadsides; Elevation: < 800 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCo, NCoRO, SnFrB, expected elsewhere; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, sporadic in eastern United States; native to Europe. Flowering Time: Jun--Sep
