Lomatium nudicaule (Pursh) J.M. Coult. & Rose
Habit: Plant 2.5--7 dm, glabrous, glaucous; taproot long, thickened. Stem: +- 0. Leaf: petiole 0.4--2.5 dm, wide-sheathing to middle; blade 9--20 cm, wide-ovate, 1--2-ternate-pinnate, leaflets 15--90 mm, lanceolate to wide-ovate, entire or toothed or lobed, generally near tip. Inflorescence: peduncle 1--4 dm, conspicuously swollen distally, generally translucent; involucel 0; rays 10--20, 1--20 cm, ascending, +- swollen distally; pedicels 3--15 mm. Flower: corolla yellow (purple). Fruit: 10--14 mm, oblong to elliptic; wings < body in width; oil tubes 1--several per rib-interval. Chromosomes: 2n=22.
Ecology: Rocky slopes, flats, generally pine woodland; Elevation: 180--2000 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoR, CaRH, n SNF, SnFrB, MP; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia, Idaho, Utah. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
