Lepidium thurberi Wooton
Habit: Annual, hairs <= 1 mm, cylindric 1 mm and much shorter, club-shaped. Stem: erect, 1 from base, (0.8)1.2--4.9(6) dm, many-branched distally. Leaf: basal rosetted, generally early-deciduous, (1.4)2.2--7(10) cm, pinnately lobed, lobes oblong to ovate or lanceolate, dentate-sinuate; mid-cauline short-petioled, 1.5--6 cm, lobe margin entire or dentate. Inflorescence: elongated, hairs long-cylindric, short-club-shaped. Flower: sepals 1--1.6 mm; petals 3--4 mm, 1.2--2.2 mm wide, broadly obovate, white; stamens 6. Fruit: 2--2.9 mm, 2--2.8 mm wide, broadly ovate to round, flat, tip winged, notch 0.1--0.2 mm; valves glabrous, not veined; style 0.3--0.8 mm, exserted beyond notch; pedicel spreading, 4--8(10) mm, cylindric, puberulent adaxially. Seed: 1.3--1.6 mm, oblong.
Ecology: Saline flats, clay soils, grassland, washes, roadsides; Elevation: < 1000 m. Bioregional Distribution: DMoj; Distribution Outside California: to New Mexico, Mexico. Flowering Time: Apr--Aug
