Ipomoea hederacea Jacq.
Habit: Annual. Leaf: blade 3--8 cm, entire to +- deeply 3--5-lobed, sparsely strigose. Inflorescence: peduncles 1--3(6)-flowered. Flower: sepals 16--25 mm, abruptly narrowed to slender, leaf-like tip, hairs near base 2--6 mm; corolla 2--6 cm, light blue, tube white or pale yellow within. Chromosomes: 2n=30.
Ecology: Fields, orchards, disturbed places; Elevation: 250 m. Bioregional Distribution: s CA-FP; Distribution Outside California: native Arizona to New Jersey. Note: California plants previously (mis)identified as Ipomoea nil (L.) Roth; in California, evidence of naturalization lacking, possibly occurring only as agricultural weed.
