Hackelia mundula (Jeps.) Ferris
Stem: 4--8 dm; hairs +- dense, generally long-soft-spreading, occasionally strigose. Leaf: basal generally 6--22 cm, 0.5--2.8 cm wide, oblanceolate; lower cauline often smaller, in age ovate to lanceolate; mid to upper generally clasping to +- clasping. Inflorescence: branched; pedicel 12--30 mm in fruit. Flower: calyx 2--3 mm; corolla tube +- = calyx, throat +- closed, limb 10--18 mm diam, pink, +- blue in age, appendages much-exserted, swollen at tip, longer than wide, pink. Fruit: nutlets 4.5--6.5 mm, shiny, smooth, abaxial prickles many, evenly distributed, +- = marginal.
Ecology: Dry open slopes, forest openings, roadsides; Elevation: 1650--2900 m. Bioregional Distribution: e-c KR (Castle Crags), SNH; Distribution Outside California: southwestern Oregon. Flowering Time: May--Jul
