Gilia sinuata Benth.
Stem: 1--several spreading from base, 13--34 cm, glabrous, glaucous below middle. Leaf: basal in prostrate rosette, tufted-woolly-hairy or glabrous, pinnate-lobed, lobes spreading, generally toothed; cauline reduced, clasping with expanded base, toothed or entire, generally not deeply toothed, tapering to tip. Inflorescence: clusters, glandular; pedicels unequal, 1--9 mm, longer in fruit. Flower: calyx 3.5--5 mm; corolla 7--12 mm, tube exserted, purple, white-veined, throat yellow, lobes 2--3 mm, lavender, pink, or white; stamens, style reaching corolla lobe bases; pollen white. Fruit: 4--7 mm, <= calyx, ovoid. Seed: 9--27. Chromosomes: 2n=36.
Ecology: Open, sandy flats; Elevation: 150--2750 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SNF, SCoRO, WTR, SnJt, GB, DMoj; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
