Gilia inconspicua (Sm.) Sweet
Stem: 8--32 cm, branches ascending or spreading, tufted-woolly-hairy below inflorescence, black-glandular above. Leaf: basal in rosette, 1-pinnate-lobed, tufted-woolly-hairy, lobes 2--10 mm, >= axis width, linear (or rounded, short-pointed), entire or toothed, ascending. Inflorescence: cluster, open in fruit; flowers 2--4; pedicels unequal. Flower: calyx 2.6--4.6 mm, glabrous or gland-dotted (or tufted-woolly-hairy in early flowers); corolla 6--11 mm, 3--4 × lobes, tube, throat generally yellow, lobes 1.6--2 mm, lavender with purple spot at base or in throat; stamens, style exserted, longest stamens exceeding corolla lobe middle. Fruit: 5--8 mm, < calyx, oblong-ovoid; valves detaching. Seed: 12--18. Chromosomes: 2n=36.
Ecology: Rocky or sandy sagebrush slopes, washes; Elevation: 1200--2300 m. Bioregional Distribution: GB; Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Idaho, Nevada. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
