Gilia capitata Sims
Stem: branched, 10--90 cm, leafy below inflorescence, glabrous, glandular, or with white hairs. Leaf: lower 1--2-pinnate-lobed, lobes 5--20 mm, axis, lobes +- 1 mm wide, linear, end lobe generally wider, axils, midribs generally with white hairs; upper cauline reduced or lobes finger-like. Inflorescence: head, terminal, spheric; flowers 25--100. Flower: calyx 3--5.2 mm, expanded in fruit, lobes acute to acuminate, narrower than membranes; corolla tube included, throat <= tube, generally exserted, lobes linear to oblong; stamens, style exserted; stigmas < 2 mm. Fruit: spheric, ovoid, or obovoid. Seed: 1--25. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
